The Fort Payne Softball program hosted a two-day softball tournament over the weekend featuring teams from Jackson, DeKalb and Marshall counties.
The Lady Vikings edged Fort Payne 2-0 in the championship game to win the tourney Saturday night.
On the mound, Fort Payne’s Kyleigh Thomas surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out one. Kramer threw two innings in relief for the Wildcats.
Marcella Rentas led Fort Payne with two hits in two at-bats, while Ashtrid Kramer made the most plays with five.
Olivia Treece led the Vikings to victory on the rubber, allowing no runs on two hits and walking one over two innings. Nevaeh Buchanan threw two innings in relief recording six outs for Skyline.
Skyline’s Brinlee Potts went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Vikings in hits.
Fort Payne 3, Scottsboro 1
Abigail Phillip’s walk-off homer led Fort Payne to defeat Scottsboro 3-1 in the semifinal round. Tied at 1, Phillip’s home run on a 1-2 count scored two runs in the sixth inning to lift Fort Payne past Scottsboro. On the victory circle, Ashtrid Kramer allowed four hits and no runs over six innings, while striking out seven.
Alyssa Smart took the loss for Scottsboro, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out seven over five and third innings.
Carley Cash led Fort Payne with three hits in three at-bats.
Fort Payne 5, Fyffe 1
The Wildcats bested Fyffe 5-1 behind a Kramer home run in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs during Friday’s opening games.
Kyleigh Thomas led Fort Payne on the circle allowing one hit and one run over four innings while striking out six.
Abigail Phillip led the Wildcats with two hits in two at-bats, while Ashtrid Kramer went for a long ball in the third inning.
The Red Devil’s Katie Edge allowed six hits and five runs over two and two-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Briley Bynum threw one-third of an inning in relief.
Kendra Fay paced Fyffe going 1-for-2 at the plate, while Madelyn Hawkins had the most chances in the field with three.
Fyffe 6, Pisgah 3
On Saturday, Cowart’s walk-off triple lifted the Lady Red Devils over Pisgah 6-3.
Despite an early Eagle start as Barron singled on a 2-2 count, scoring a run, Fyffe put the game away at the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kendra Fay, the Red Devil’s hurler, allowed five hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one over two innings.
Fyffe collected eight hits, multiple from Brindlee Watson/Walston and Nevaeh Smith, who led the Red Devils on the plate.
Piper Anderson took the loss for Pisgah, allowing eight hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Madeline Falmmia made the most plays for the Eagles with three.
North Jackson 4, Fyffe 0
In the ensuing matchup, the Red Devils fell to North Jackson 4-0, as the Chief took an early lead in the first inning.
Katie Edge in the circle for Fyffe surrendered a run on two hits over one-third of an inning. Briley Bynum threw four and two-thirds innings in relief.
Nevaeh Smith paced the Red Devils with two hits in three at-bats.
Destry Lambert led the Chiefs in the pitcher’s circle allowing one hit and no runs over five innings while striking out six and walking one.
Skyline 10, Ider 0
The Ider Lady Hornets fell to Skyline 10-0 in their opening game on Friday.
Ider’s Brynley Traylor pitched three innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while Madylin Johnson pitched one inning allowing six runs on two hits and striking out two.
Sophia Murphey led the Hornets with two hits in two at-bats.
Treece led the Vikings to victory lasting three and third innings, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out six. Brinna Wilson three two-thirds of an inning in relief.
North Jackson 5, Ider 0
The Lady Hornets took a 5-0 loss to North Jackson on Saturday, as the Chief put up four runs in the bottom of the second.
Miklyn Troxtel took the loss for Ider, surrendering five runs on four hits over four innings, striking out three.
Brynley Traylor, Lexi Brewer, Julie Mavity, and Hanna Stevens each tallied one hit for the Hornets.
North Jackson’s Destry Lambert led the chiefs in the circle allowing three hits and no runs over five innings while striking out four. Darcy McClendon threw one inning in relief.
Pisgah 8, Ider 7
Pisgah edged the Lady Hornets 8-7 during their final game on Saturday at Fort Payne.
Ider put up a fight as they came back from a 4-run deficit, scoring five runs on a Brynley Traylor single in the third, a Sophia Murphey double, and a homer by Lexi Brewer.
The Hornet’s Traylor allowed seven hits and eight runs, striking out three over three and two-thirds innings.
Murphey led Ider in hits going 3-for-3 at the plate. Traylor also recorded multiple hits for the Hornets.
Piper Anderson led Pisgah in the winning circle, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out three over three and two-thirds innings.
