Supreme Courts Tournament

The Plainview Lady Bears traveled to Supreme Courts in Guntersville for a 3-game tournament where they defended and won the championship outright. The Plainview girls first faced the New Hope Indians and won 51-37. They took an early 19-9 lead in the first quarter and then went into halftime with a 25-18 lead. The Lady Bears would go on a 14-4 run during the third quarter and maintain the lead until time expired. Payton Blevins led the Lady Bears with 15 points while Sanders and Jackson brought in 8 points apiece. Plainview then took on DAR and dominated with a 72-20 victory. The Lady Bears went into halftime with a giant 43-14 lead and then only allowed 6 points in the second half. Blevins was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 25 points, and Lauren Jimmerson came in with 14 points. In their final game, they faced Cherokee County and again won outright 53-38. Cherokee County fought hard and kept the score within reach, and at intermission, the Lady Bears only led 30-26. However, the Lady Bears would only allow 12 points in the second half while they scored 23. Blevins brought in 16 points, and Halle Brown brought in 12 points for the Lady Bears. Coach Griggs was incredibly pleased with the tournament outcome because they beat some really good teams and thought his girls shot the ball well.
