Sylvania dominated the field in a 42-14 win against Class 3A, Region 6 rival Ohatchee on Thursday, September 8.
The Rams improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in region competition picking up their first region victory.
Aiden Parham got things started for Sylvania with a scoring run at the 9:15 mark of the opening quarter. Conner Andrade’s good PAT brought the score to 7-0.
With two down and three to go on the 24-yard line, Parham broke free for his second score of the night.
Joshua Scott intercepted an Ohatchee ball setting up the Rams’ third touchdown in the first half. Jaxon Smith connected with Landon Watkins for a TD pass with 4:49 left in the quarter.
Ohatchees’ Bryce Noah broke free for a 9-yard touchdown up the right side cutting the deficit 21-6.
The Rams answered a few plays later with Parham’s 23-yard TD, and another good PAT from Andrade.
At intermission, Sylvania led 28-6.
In the third, Noah intercepted a Ram pass but was not able to capitalize on it.
Sylvania regained control as Parham ran up the middle for their first second-half touchdown with 1:59 left of the third.
In the fourth, Ohatchee rallied as Devin Howell caught a pass for a touchdown, followed by a successful 2-point conversion from #16, bringing the score up 35-14.
With 5:30 left of the game, Ky Shankles recovered a Ram fumble rushing up the middle for a touchdown, sealing Sylvanias’ victory. Andrade’s good PAT advanced the score to 42-14.
Parham rushed for 161 yards and four touchdowns, Jaxon Smith passed for 184 yards with a score, and Landon Watkins finished with 104 yards receiving with a touchdown.
The Rams are on the road this week as they travel to take on Geraldine (3-1) on Friday for Class 3A, Region 6 play.
