Sylvania overpowered Geraldine 41-24 in a Class 3A, Region 6 victory last Friday night at Coolidge Isbell Field.
With the win, the Rams improved to a 3-1 overall record and 2-1 in the region. The Bulldogs fell to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in region play.
Parham rushed for an 11-yard touchdown run in the Sylvania’s opening drive as the two teams battled for dominance in the first half of play.
Geraldine’s Garcia kicked a field goal at the 1:26 mark of the opening period, and a few plays later, Mann broke free for a 66-yard scoring run in the second quarter, putting the Bulldogs ahead 10-6.
Smith found Scott for a 17-yard touchdown pass with less than four minutes left in the half. Andrades’ PAT gave Sylvania a 13-10 advantage.
At the half, Sylvania led 20-10 after scoring off a Geraldine fumble.
By the start of the third, the Bulldogs trailed by 10 when Carlos Garcia took a direct snap up the right side for a touchdown. Moses Garcia added a good PAT for a 20-17 score.
Sylvania starting quarterback Jaxon Smith sustained an injury in the following drive. Griffin Turner entered the field to replace Jaxon, who pushed the Rams into a 27-17 advantage.
Aiden Parham rushed for 9 yards into the end zone, capturing his second touchdown of the night for the Rams.
Josh Scott intercepted a pass and added another TD followed by a good PAT from Conner Andrade.
Geraldine answered with a touchdown from Mann. Drew Freeman recovered a Ram fumble on the next play, but Sylvania shut down a potential touchdown reception.
The Rams pulled away for good with a Braiden Thomas long touchdown run at the 5:07 mark, giving Sylvania a 41-24 advantage.
Geraldine has a bye week this week before returning to play at home against Ohatchee.
Sylvania travels to Pisgah (4-0) on Friday for a non-region matchup. The two last met in 2019 when the Rams delivered a 55-24 win.
