Valley Head (3-0) shut out Decatur Heritage 57-35 at Valley Head High School on Friday, September 2.
Decatur Heritage scored early in the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown. Valley Head answered with Eian Bain rushing for 5 yards for a Tiger touchdown and a good PAT from Ethan Smith.
With 00:15 left in the first quarter, Hunter Robinson ran for 16 yards bringing Valley Head up 14-7.
Decatur Heritage’s Bo Solley connected with Willis Orr for a 59-yard touchdown pass to even the score.
Bain rushed for a second touchdown. The two continue trading scores for a 27-27 score at intermission.
In the third, Valley Head pulled away when Robinson ran for 4 yards. Early in the fourth quarter, Bain rushed for an 8-yard TD, and a two-point conversion by Hernan Moreno lifted the Tigers to a 41-27 advantage.
Valley Head continued to push as Bain ran for a 77-yard touchdown and another successful two-point conversion by Moreno. The Tigers held off Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, and at the 6:07 mark, Robinson ran for a 22-yard touchdown, and a two-point conversion run by Moreno capped the game at 57-35.
Valley Head enters a bye week Friday, September 9, before traveling to Coosa Christian on Friday, September 16.
