Rams Shutout The Bears
By Nick Hall
The Sylvania Rams shutout the Plainview Bears 27-0 to get their first region win Friday night. After the Rams’ Jaxon Andrade missed on a 36-yard field goal attempt, the Bears took over on offense. However, it didn’t last long as Sylvania’s Keenan Wilbanks intercepted a Noah White pass and raced 32 yards for a pick-six touchdown. Andrade’s PAT made the score 7-0.
After another Plainview drive stalled, the Rams put together a scoring drive, which culminated with a 6-yard touchdown run by Gareth Anderson midway of the second quarter. That increased Sylvania’s advantage to 14-0. The Rams scored once more before the half when Brody Smith connected with Jordan Johnson on a 53-yard touchdown strike. Andrade’s PAT sent the Rams to the locker room with a 21-0 halftime lead.
Anderson scored again from 6-yards out late in the third quarter. Andrade missed the PAT leaving the score at 27-0. The fourth quarter remained scoreless for both teams and the Rams shutout the Plainview Bears.
Levi Anderson led Sylvania’s ground attack with 90 yards on 15 carries. Smith went 4-of-7 for 80 yards through the air. Johnson led the receivers with two catches for 61 yards.
